What is my Purpose in Life?

People ask you all the time “What do you want to do when you grow up?” or “What are your future plans?” You think that you should know exactly what you want to do with your life and have it all planned out. But for many people including me, I have no idea. It’s not that I don’t think about it, but it’s all the options that we are given when we leave high school that have my mind running blank. I don’t know what I want to do in life, all of the roads lead in different directions with good purposes to all of them. That’s the hard part. Picking what one to go down, and what one you think will work for you. That feeling I get in my stomach when I think about what I want to do, and how it’s just around the corner, the feeling of nervousness and anxiousness. Everything that we learn in live helps us get to where we’re supposed to be.
If I have one thing almost figured out its that I will most likely attend UNL, even though a good proportion of Aurora students go there. Some people want to get away from people from their class and see new things and meet completely new people when they go to college, but I think that knowing people that go there also helps make things easier, less scary. You will have someone that you know in case you need them. It gives me that feeling of comfort. I have two sisters that live in the city of Lincoln which will also be very handy. They know the city and they are right there if I ever needed anything.  They have already been through the “college experience” and will know what to do in every situation that I would need help with. I consider myself pretty lucky and fortunate to have them there. Some people travel from all over the country and know nobody at all.  Another benefit of going there is that in know it so well already. All three of my sisters have gone there, so I have been there over and over again. If it’s not from moving them from hall to hall every year they were there, it was just going down to see them over the weekend with parents, and taking college visits. I am also a Husker fan, even though the game against Wisconsin was not good, not good at all.  I think that Nebraska has the best traveling fans that there are.  No matter where their games are held, there will always be fans at their games. One of my favorite parts of watching them on T.V. is watching Bo Pelini chomp the life out of his gum during the game, and seeing him wear his grey Nebraska sweatshirt for almost every single game.
I’m not sure on what I want to study in college. There are way too many options to choose from. And it’s really hard to find something that you will actually enjoy. This is really hard for me considering how many times people change their major throughout their college days.  You can’t really be sure until you have searched and found the one that fits you.  The way I look at it is that I want to get the gen. eds. out of the way. There are two career paths that I have been thinking about, and they are dental hygiene or elementary education. The thing I like about dental hygiene is helping make people want to smile. I love to smile and a smile is very important. The impact that it has on some people is crazy. There are people in this school that smile non-stop, and they are great! I think that smiling can change a person’s mood in a heartbeat, and I would love to be a part of that. Elementary education is also something that I would be interested in doing.  Being around kids all day and helping them learn and grow as an individual. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? Kids are also very entertaining and fun to be around. To me, that doesn’t sound like much of a job, but a fun way to spend every day.
There are many different directions to go, and so little time to think about which path to take. I’m only 18 years old and have lots of great things ahead of me. That’s why I think that making every day count and making every day worthwhile is what I want to do right now. “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt

Where Am I?

I am from Aurora, Nebraska. It’s a small town that has a heart of its own, small but mighty. The population is around 5,000, that sounds like a good guestimation. And the community that we have is the most supportive one out of all the towns around, and I love every part of it. Our community is what makes Aurora, Aurora. No matter where you are in town you will always see someone you know, and they always have a smile on their face. When you go to the grocery store, you will most likely have a conversation with someone you know in the middle of the isle about something. Our town is constantly growing into a bigger and better community. Our town has some fast food joints like Runza, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Arbys, and China Garden. That’s about it.  We have a movie theater down town and it is really nice. Nothing beats 3 dollar movie tickets! We also have a youth center that is run by people of the community. It is a great hangout for grade-schoolers to go on the weekends instead of getting into trouble. They have all sorts of video games, pool tables, air hockey, basketball games, arcade games, and an outside area to play games like dodge ball and basketball. They also sell candy and pop inside for them that is really cheap!  I think it’s a great way to keep the community together and also a good way of providing entertainment for kids.
Aurora also has three parks, public pool that is open during the summer, and camp grounds for people that are coming and going through the town. In one of our parks they just put in a new walking path that winds through it.We have baseball fields and softball fields and tennis courts throughout the town. We are working on a new softball complex for next spring right now; it was supposed to be done already but oh well. It has three softball field and a regulation sized baseball field in it also. It will be a very nice place to play ball next summer and fall. We also have the Penner Athletic Center  that is a new addition to our town. It has two basketball courts and two volleyball courts which helps the town tremendously. There are lots of things that Aurora has to offer for its size.
I live in the country of Aurora. The house that I live in has been in our family for many years. My dad used to live in the same one when he was a boy and when his dad, or my grandma, passed away when I was three he  decided to take over and live in. there is so much history in this house about our family. This house has raised one family for over 50 years.  There has been so much put into this house that I can’t imagine being anywhere else. That is what makes our house a home. We have made changes to the house since my grandpa used to live in it. In 1997 my uncle put in a new basement and remodeled the front of the house. We sided the house and added a garage. There used to be two barns that had pigs and chickens in them, but they were too old and weren’t worth trying to fix up. The only thing that I would change about this house is having another bathroom. We only have one in this big old house, and raising four girls with one bathroom is very difficult. You can only imagine how hard it was getting ready for school in the mornings with all of us! We have had many animals and pets throughout all the years. There are memories and memories made in this house that it is a big part of me and where I am from.
In some ways you could say that some of the music I listen to could help tell you where I am from. I listen to country music, and a lot of it. Lots of people absolutely hate it, but I probably couldn’t live without it. There are so many good songs that describe life in so many ways. The songs have meanings within the lyrics that can fit anyone with any situation that you are in. It is so much better than all of the other songs that are heard on the radio. The best music it by artists like Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and Kenny Chesney. They are as country as it gets.

FM Static - Take Me As I Am

Who am I?

“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.” –unknown
Who am I? I am Morgan George, my parents are Patrick and Valerie. They are the best parents in the world and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.  My mom and dad are supportive of everything I do, and support every decision I make.  I have three sisters; Lindsay, Krysta, and Jeanette. Lindsay is ten years older than me and is married to Brian Pape. They live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Krysta is eight years older than me and is in a relationship with Ian Ohem.  They travel all over the world and do random stuff that entertains them. Jeanette is the sister that is closest to my age by four years. She is dating Sam Parker. And they are moving to Florida in January. Family is a big part of who I am. They are always going to be there for me no matter what, and I think that a really big part that makes people who they are.
I am a softball player and also do track. Sports keep me busy and also push me to do better. Softball is my main sport I play. I play in the summer and the fall, and it is very, very time consuming.  When I play softball in the summer it’s mainly to get better and to have fun. During the fall it’s a different story.  In fall ball it’s much more competitive and a lot more stressful. Even thought our team has ups and downs we still manage to have a good time.  Our team gets along great. We have our own little family, and I love it. We are always going to be there for each other and we help each other with personal problems.   Our team gets stronger and stronger every single time were together. Having a new coach two out of the three years makes it a challenge as well.  Our coach is like a father to us. He cares about each and every one of us. Not as a team mate, but also as an individual.  We butt heads but it’s what makes us stronger.  Track is a different sport that I also love to participate in.  Even though it’s a team sport, I do an individual event. I do high jump. Having an individual event separates it from the way I feel about softball. In high jump, it’s just me.  It’s my time to help improve myself and push myself.  I look at it in a different perspective.
I like to refer back to the quote that I have at the top of this post. It’s a quote that I think fits every person and is also true to the T. Nobody has a perfect life, and everybody makes mistakes. It’s the fact that you have to look beyond all that to make you happy. You can’t let little things bother you and stop you from anything. To some, if you let those little things bother you, you can actually hurt yourself and the people you love. You will end up digging yourself into a bigger hole than what you already feel. People may not think about it much, but there are people all around you that want you to be happy. They love to see your smile, and they wouldn’t want anything but your happiness. One of the hardest things is that you can’t let the people that you may not get along well with, or let the things that you don’t get your way get you down. You have to control your happiness. You and only you have that power.  I think of all the friends I have, the family I have, and my teammates. They don’t like it when I’m not happy. Who wants to be around someone who is going to put you in a bad mood? There is so much more to life than looking back at your mistakes. You have to move forward and think towards the future.
I take all of these things that I have mentioned as a part of who I am. There is always more than meets the eye to every person. Some things you may not know and some that you may think you know, but until you completely know someone you have no idea who they really are. Everyone is a different individual. There are so many things that make up a person and I am proud of the fact that this is who I am.
